Saving, importing and exporting tasks

Saving and loading

To save a task list, click Save current tasks on the Sidebar. Once saved, the task list can be loaded and reused at any time.

To load a previously saved task list, click its title in the Saved tasks list.

When a task list is loaded, its tasks are appended to the tasks already in the Scanner. If you want to only load the tasks you saved, clear the tasks in the scanner before loading the list.

Importing and exporting

If you need to pass a task list on to another TNI user, you can find your saved lists as separate files in the Tasks subfolder of the program settings folder ({Path to the Application Data or Program Data folder}\Total Network Inventory\Tasks). You can access this folder by clicking the Open tasks folder link in the Sidebar in Scanner mode.

The same way, you can add task lists received from another TNI user to your own TNI installation by placing the task files in this folder.

Manually creating a task list file

Sometimes it’s convenient to manually create a list of nodes that need to be scanned. You can create the list in a simple text file and then change its extension to .task-list to use it as a TNI task list.

A task list in TNI is essentially a text file where each line represents a scan task. The simplest example is a list of IP addresses or network names. However, task lists can contain more than just network names and IP addresses. You can find the full list of supported notations here.
