Database questions

Having PostgreSQL installed

Q: I already have PostgreSQL installed with Network Olympus, do I need to install PostgreSQL again?

A: Yes. Network Olympus comes with a pre-installed version of PostgreSQL, which is not compatible with the current required version for TNI. If you already have a PostgreSQL database installed, make sure it meets the minimum requirements to work with TNI.

Additionally, if you have Network Olympus installed on this device, you should pay attention to a possible conflict in the use of port 5432, which is specified when installing PostgreSQL by default.

Storage conversion

Q: I already have a storage created on previous versions of TNI, can I convert it to a multi-user storage using databases?

A: At the moment, conversion between different types of storage is not provided, but you can import all created devices and the general and special fields associated with them from the old storage to the new multi-user one. In this case, all information stored in the devices will be transferred. To do this, install the PostgreSQL database, then create a Multi-user storage and import the folder while maintaining the structure, specifying the root folder of the old storage.

However, any data not stored on the devices will need to be added again. These include: storage settings, saved Data Transfer methods, Logins, Resident Agent Profiles, Sensors data, Network Maps and all manually entered information in SAM mode.

Simultaneous TNI usage

Q: Can several users work with the program at the same time?

A: Yes, by setting up the TNI Users mode and adding a Multi-User storage, you can simultaneously enter information into the storage. Information updating between multiple copies of TNI will occur in real time.

Users access

Q: I`ve configured a database and assigned user roles. How do I get them to connect with the TNI storage? What to do next?

AInstall TNI copies on users’ computers. Make sure that users have access to the network storage folder. A multi-user storage can be opened in the same way as a single-user storage – by selecting the storage folder in Storage Open . After that, the user will be prompted to enter his login/password.
