Having PostgreSQL installed

Q: I already have PostgreSQL installed for Network Olympus. Do I need to install PostgreSQL again?

A: Not necessarily. TNI multi-user Storage requires PostgreSQL version 14 or later. The version of PostgreSQL bundled with Network Olympus may not meet this requirement, so check the installed version first.

If it does not meet the TNI requirements, you will need to install a compatible version of PostgreSQL.

If Network Olympus and TNI use separate PostgreSQL instances on the same computer, be aware of a potential port conflict. PostgreSQL uses TCP port 5432 by default. If this port is already in use, specify a different port when installing or configuring the other instance.

Storage conversion

Q: I already have a storage created in an earlier version of TNI. Can I convert it to a multi-user storage?

A: Conversion between different storage types is not currently supported, but you can import all assets from the old storage, including their general and special fields, into the new multi-user storage. In this case, all information stored in the assets will be transferred. To do this, install the PostgreSQL database, then create a Multi-user storage and import the folder while preserving its structure, and specify the root folder of the old storage as the source.

However, any data that is not stored in the assets will need to be added again. This includes storage settings, saved Data Transfer methods, Logins, Resident Agent Profiles, Sensors data, Network Maps, and all manually entered information in SAM mode.

Simultaneous TNI usage

Q: Can several users work with TNI at the same time?

A: Yes, by setting up the TNI Users mode and creating a Multi-User storage, multiple users can work with the storage simultaneously. Changes made in one TNI installation will be reflected in other installations in real time.

User access

Q: I’ve configured a database and assigned user roles. How can I give these users access to the TNI storage?

A: Install TNI on the users’ computers. Make sure that the users have access to the network storage folder. A multi-user storage can be accessed in the same way as a single-user storage – by selecting the storage folder in Storage Open . After that, the user will be prompted to enter their login credentials.
