Adding objects

When the project is created, you can start filling the network map with objects.

The following operations are available from the Toolbar to the right of the map:

  • Selection: allows to move and edit groups, assets, shapes and images on the map;
  • Shapes: allows to add geometric shapes, text and images to the map;
  • Links: allows to create connections between individual devices and groups.

Before adding or when selecting a single object (not a node), you can change its properties from the Toolbar: for example, fill the shape or rotate it, enter text to be added to the map, create a label for the link, and so on:

Nodes

On the map, you can add an unlimited number of nodes that will correspond to assets and groups in the network tree. To do this, simply drag them from the Network tree on the left side.

A single network tree node can be added to the map an unlimited number of times.

Map nodes are displayed in the form of an icon that shows the type and online status of the corresponding node in the network tree.

Shapes

You can fill the map with various preset geometric shapes by choosing them in the Toolbar and drawing on the map.

The following shapes are available right now: rectangle (and square), ellipse (and circle), rhombus, triangle, right triangle (and isosceles triangle), pentagon, hexagon, arrow.

Hold Shift while drawing the borders to add an equilateral figure, as well as such special cases as a circle or an isosceles triangle.

You can also add text and images to the map.

Links allow to visualize the connections between nodes in your network infrastructure.

To establish a link between two devices, click Links on the Toolbar and draw a line between the two map nodes.

You can change the type for all links from the map settings on the Control panel.
The style of an individual link can be changed from its properties on the Toolbar.
