Network hierarchy allows to divide your network into groups and add into each group a variety of the devices. You can operate network hierarchy both by using the Devices tree and Network map. 

Select root node My network place in the devices tree to create and add new group. After choosing this node you can right-click it and get shortcut menu or use the appropriate button in the toolbar:

There comes up a window for new group adding:

Enter the name of the new group into the field Name, enter additional description into the optional field Description. Press OK button to add new group to the devices tree.

To work with certain group deploy right-click menu (or appropriate options in Network main menu):

  • Add new device: adds new device to the selected group;
  • Remove group: removes the selected group;
  • Group properties: shows the selected group properties.

After groups are created you can start adding devices. This can be done by Scan wizard or manually.

Choose the group where you want to add new device. Right-click or use toolbar and select menu option Add device:

New device adding window will pop up:

You can:

  • The new device name to be used to display it in the devices tree should be entered into the field Name;
  • Set Windows-authorization by default;
  • Choose device type from the dropdown list Type;
  • Enter the additional description into the field Description;
  • Check or uncheck the flag Device with static IP;
  • Optionally set Host name or IP address, that is to set the new device address.

If the flag Device with static IP was unchecked it is necessary to enter host name only, IP address will be detected dynamically. You can use buttons to define host name by IP address or to define IP address by host name.
After filling in all the fields press OK button. If the set address of the new device is incorrect, the appropriate messages will come up. If everything is correct the device will be added to the tree.

To work with certain device use right-click menu (or appropriate options of Network main menu):

  • Add monitor: adds new monitor to the selected device;
  • Add device: adds new device to a group of the selected device;
  • Remove device: removes the device;
  • Device properties: shows the selected device properties.

Each device except its name has also icon and state.

Device icon is a device graphical image which depends on the device type, set in its properties, and it is displayed leftside to its name.
A state displays progress of this device monitors. If all device monitors successfully executed the probe the green circle is displayed near the icon. If at least one monitor failed to execute the probe or did it with an error the device state is lighted up with red or black circle. If all probes of this device are not run, the state is not displayed.

There are three specific lists in the tree: Green, Red and Black monitors. By selecting any of them, you can see lists of monitors in green, red and black state respectively.
