Monitors allow to have control over various aspects of certain devices performance. You can check network activity of any device, status of its network and system utilities (servers).
To create new monitor choose that device in the Devices tree, for which you want create the monitor.
Then right-click and select menu option Add monitor:

Then the following window will come up:

Check the option Check monitor on creation to run the probe right after its creation.
Probes are divied into three categories:
After the probe type is chosen the menu options for setting certain probe parameters becomes available (section Probe) also for adding new actions (section Actions). If the chosen probe types are Windows or File, the authorization menu options becomes available (section Authorization).
New actions adding is fully described in section New actions adding, the parameters and features are described in the corresponding sections.
In section Authorization you can set the user name and the password. In this case before the probe is executed Total Network Monitor will try to get authorized under this name in Windows security system on the remote computer. Authorization will allow to get access to Windows resources (events log, service manager, remote registry, shared folders), if you don't have enough rights to access them as current user or guest.

Press OK button and new monitor of this device will be added to the monitoring project.
To change properties of certain monitor open the properties window with double-click or press Enter on the keyboard. It is necessary to point out that in this case the monitor will automatically change its state into paused.
To remove one or several monitors select the appropriate option in Monitor menu or press Delete.
To get comprehensive information about each monitor use contextual help. Just hover necessary monitor and wait untill information window comes up:

This window show such information as: monitor name, device name and IP address, monitor probe frequency, description, action list and their run conditions.
